Anne Arundel County Names New Police, Fire Chiefs

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) - Anne Arundel County has named a new police and fire chiefs.

Capt. Timothy Altomare will be leading the Anne Arundel County Police Department, while Allan Graves will lead the fire department.

Anne Arundel County Executive-elect Steve Schuh made the announcement Thursday.

Schuh also announced he will reappoint current Detention Department Superintendent Terry Kokolis to oversee county detention facilities.

"Tim, Allan, and Terry understand we work best when we all work together," said Schuh. "With these three seasoned, experienced professionals overseeing the Fire, Police and Detention Departments, we will see a new era of partnership in public safety in the Schuh Administration."

Altomare is a 20-year veteran of the force in Anne Arundel County. He currently leads the northern and southern districts.

In that role, he started new mentoring programs for district leadership teams and began an aggressive repeat offender program to remove violent offenders from the district.

Graves is a 37-year veteran of the fire department and most recent served as Operations division chief. He was reponsible for staffing, resource management, planning, incident command in that role.

Schuh will be sworn into office on Dec. 1.
