Weather Blog: A Chilly, But Partly Sunny Afternoon Shaping Up

A chilly, but partly sunny afternoon shaping up. The combination of windflow from the west-south-west and sun has boosted our temperatures slightly beyond the projected 47° high. As of this update, parts of Maryland are in low to mid 50° with BWI-Marshall knocking on the door. The warm-up from yesterday's record low temps will be short-lived as a cold front continues moving eastward. Behind the front, a  wind shift to the west will allow another surge of cold air into the Mid-Atlantic tonight. We can expect another overnight drop in temps, bottoming out below normal (average is now 35°).

We could realistically see a temperature range from the upper teens in the outlying suburbs to the upper 20°s in the #WJZ metro/viewing area.

High pressure builds overhead Friday and continues east Saturday. Expecting mostly sunny and gusty conditions Friday with high and low near 36° & 21°. Saturday will reflect a southerly flow and bit of warming. We will finally have a trend of near (or above) average temps heading into the weekend and through early next week. Saturday 46° & 33°, Sunday 55° & 49° (with some rain late in the day and night), and Monday 68° &  46° w/ spotty showers.
