Didn't you see it coming? This is the National Football League which means just when you think you have things figured out, you realize you don't. As "Rowdy" Roddy Piper once said, "Just when they think they have all the answers, I change the questions." That's the 2014 season in the NFL.
The Kansas City Chiefs were one of the hottest teams in the league. They had won five in a row and seven out of the past eight. They were becoming one of those "teams to beat" in the AFC. That's until Thursday happened. The Chiefs rolled into Oakland to take on the winless Raiders and found themselves in the middle of a battle against a team that couldn't win if you gave them a game.
In the end, the Chiefs could not stop the Raiders running led by Latavius Murray who had 112 yards on four carries before leaving the game with a concussion. The rest of the team managed 67 yards on 26 carries the rest of the way.
The Chiefs failed to reach the eight win total as a result of the loss and put themselves a half of a game behind the Denver Broncos in the AFC West and tied for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card hunt. If the Baltimore Ravens can beat the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football and the Cleveland Browns can win in Atlanta against the Falcons, we will have on heck of a race forming in the Conference. The Ravens are at a disadvantage right now with a 3-4 record in the AFC. They'll have time to improve on that, but those games will be crucial. Isn't this what we want?
