Weather Blog: Colder Air Has Made A Comeback

After reaching the low 50s yesterday, colder air has definitely made a comeback early today... And, while the combination of temperatures at daybreak mostly in the 20s and a brisk wind might not 'feel as cold' as it did back on Wednesday morning, it is pretty remarkable what you can get used to!!

A heavy coat, hat, scarf and gloves should still be "near the front doors" of most folks today --- they'll come in handy once again today and tonight... Winds out of the west and northwest will gust to near 30 mph, especially this morning... So, although temperatures this afternoon will wind up mostly in the mid and upper 30s, it will "Feel Like" its in the teens this morning and the 20s this afternoon... A large ridge of high pressure should finally begin to build into areas east of the Appalachians tonight, so a relaxation of the pressure gradient will allow the wind to die down... So, it'll be mainly clear and cold overnight, but with less wind...

Sunshine tomorrow will mix with some clouds, and the temperature will be back in the 40s again... That ridge of high pressure I alluded to a moment ago will be located off the Carolina Coast on Sunday, and a south to southwesterly wind flow will be pumping some milder air into the mid-Atlantic states... There should be some early sun, but the day will ultimately turn out cloudy... Regardless of the transition to extensive cloud cover, it will still be noticeably milder with temperatures mostly in the 50s.
