Md. Man Dies After Trench Collapse

MYERSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- A man pulled from a collapsed trench in Frederick County has died.

The Frederick County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that 26-year-old Robert Craig of Myersville died after crews rescued him from the trench, which collapsed Tuesday morning.

The Frederick News-Post reports that the trench caved in on Craig, who was buried from his waist down in about 10 feet of rock and dirt for several hours before crews managed to free him. Craig was a plumbing contractor who had been working at a residential construction site in Myersville at the time of the accident.

Craig survived the initial collapse but was complaining of hip and leg injuries after his rescue. It's unclear whether Craig died Tuesday or Wednesday.
