Demonstrators Decry Police Treatment In Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- About three dozen demonstrators have protested the criminal justice system in Wicomico County that they say carries a bias against black residents.

The Daily Times reports the protest Sunday was loosely organized. Protesters marched about two blocks in Salisbury to the police department headquarters.

The protest follows the grand jury decision last week in Ferguson, Missouri, that declined to indict a police officer for the shooting of an unarmed teenager.

In Salisbury, protesters chanted "Hands up, don't shoot" and other messages outside the police station. Some carried signs that read "Black Lives Matter." They decried police treatment of black residents in Salisbury.

The protest remained peaceful. The only interaction with police was brief and polite.
