WEATHER BLOG: 2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season Comes To A Close

Today wraps up the final day of the 2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season, which runs from June 1 through November 30. This year, we checked in with a total of eight named storms, which is below the 40-year average of 11 named storms. Out of these eight, six strengthened to hurricanes and only two of those became major hurricanes. The highest wind gust was recorded in Bermuda at 144 mph from Hurricane Gonzalo on October 18th.
