Governor-Elect Hogan Announces 2 Nominations For Administration
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Governor-elect Larry Hogan continues his quest to build a bipartisan state government.
Political reporter Pat Warren explains Hogan has added two more faces to the incoming administration.
While a number of the Republican party faithful have already been appointed, Hogan is not forgetting that Democrats voted for him, too.
Republicans don't get elected governor in Maryland without hitting a note that also rings true with Democratic voters. Now that he's elected, Larry Hogan's next challenge is to win support from the Democratic leadership.
"I'm looking forward to working in cooperation with Speaker Busch. We had a great meeting; we talked about reaching across the aisle, putting aside partisanship and working together in a bipartisan fashion to get things done for the people of Maryland," Hogan said.
That work is already cut out for them.
"We've maxed out all the credit cards, we've drained all the savings accounts, we've broken into the kids' piggy banks. We have no money left," Hogan said.
With a looming budget deficit and a campaign commitment to cut taxes, picking people who play well with others can go a long way.
The governor-elect will hold a briefing on the state budget Thursday afternoon.
