5 Die From Hypothermia In Maryland In Month
BALTIMORE (AP) -- State public health officials say Maryland has seen its first deaths from hypothermia this season, with five people dying from cold-related conditions in a month.
The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene said in a news release Wednesday that the five deaths occurred between mid-November and mid-December.
Officials say the deaths were a man age 18-44 in Frederick County; a man age 18-44 in Anne Arundel County; a man over 65 in Wicomico County; a man over 65 in Prince George's County; and a woman over 65 in Carroll County.
There were 15 cold-related deaths in Maryland during the 2013-2014 winter weather season.
