AACO Police Officer Struck By Vehicle, Hospitalized

ODENTON, Md. (WJZ) ---Three police officers are taken to the hospital and an armed robbery suspect is under arrest after a chaotic night in Anne Arundel County. Police say the suspect hit an officer with his car and then deliberately rammed the police cruiser. That is when officers open fired.

Christie Ileto has the latest.

It all started at the Navy Federal Credit Union in Odenton, less than five minutes away from the scene. Unfortunately, three officers were injured. Anne Arundel County police say it could've been a lot worse.

Cop cars, flashing lights and gun shell casing show how an armed robbery in Odenton ended on Rt. 32.

"Officers happened to be on Rt. 32 ahead of the vehicle. They slowed down, saw the vehicle approaching, attempted to stop the vehicle," Anne Arundel County Lt. T.J. Smith said.

That's when it took a turn.

"That's when the driver struck him and the driver also struck another police car that was unoccupied at the time," Lt. Smith said.

Police then fired at the suspect's car and took him into custody.

Police found a BB gun and the stolen cash in the suspect's car. The suspect was not injured in the altercation.

Police have not identified the suspect and he has not yet been charged.

Of the three officers taken to the hospital, two have been released and one still remains.
