Essex Man Charged With Trying To Solicit Minor For Sex

ESSEX, Md. (WJZ) -- An Essex man has been charged with trying to solicit a minor for sex.

According to police, an undercover detective posted an ad on an Internet site and received a response that included the image of a naked man.

The detective wrote back and pretended to be a 13-year-old girl. The two spoke online and the suspect, John William Ransier, talked about having sex with the girl and performing sexual acts.

The two agreed to meet and the suspect went to go meet the detective. When he arrived, police were waiting and took him into custody without incident.

Ransier has been charged with sexual solicitation of a minor, attempted third-degree sex offense and attempted second-degree rape. He is being held without bail.
