WEATHER BLOG: Getting Chilly

Looks like any showers associated with an upper level disturbance stay to our south overnight. The system moves far enough off the coast through Tuesday for strong high pressure to take control.

Colder and drier conditions from the north prevail through the rest of the week before our next area of low pressure impacts the region this weekend. Sub-freezing temps gradually work their way down from the north

At least through New Year's, temperatures stay below normal. Expect average temps Tuesday to drop into mid-to-upper 30° highs for Wednesday & Thursday. Overnight lows. especially New Year's Eve, plummet into the low 20°s.

For the short term an unimpressive and very weak disturbance coming in from the Tennessee Valley could bring enough moisture into the area to generate some light rain or snow showers. The moisture contributes to increased cloud cover into Tuesday, before skies begin to clear Tuesday. With normal high/low of now; 42° & 25° expect a very Winterlike blast as the year transitions from old to new.Forecasts: Tuesday 41° / 23°, Wednesday (New Year's Eve) 36° / 21°…about 25° @ midnight and 39° / 23° on New Year's Day.
