300 Baltimore Homes And Businesses To Be Affected By Water Main Break

BALTIMORE (WJZ) --- The Baltimore City Department of Public Works has announced that work to repair a 6" water main break at the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Chester Street will temporarily interrupt water service for approximately 300 area homes and businesses.

The water shutdown is expected to start Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 6 p.m. It's expected to end at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31.

The westbound curb lane will be closed on Eastern Avenue at Chester Street.

There will be a total road closure for the 400 block of S. Chester Street between Bank Street and Eastern Avenue.

The following are locations for the outages:

  • 2100-2200 E. Pratt Street
  • 100-400 S. Patterson Park
  • 2000-2300 Eastern Avenue
  • 400 S. Chester St.
  • 2100 Gough Street
  • 400 S. Collington Street
  • 2200 Choptank Court (rear of Bank Street)
  • 2200 Portugal Street (rear of Eastern Avenue)

According to DPW, the ongoing water loss has caused reduced water pressure for some nearby locations.

Locations where water service is temporarily interrupted may experience discolored or cloudy water once the service is restored. After the service is restored, officials suggest to open a tap in the basement of the property and let the water run for approximately five to 10 minutes. After doing so, the water should be clear.

Anyone with questions are asked to call 311.
