Winter Weather Advisory in Effect For Parts Of Maryland

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of Maryland. It has been issued not because a lot of snow is expected, but because the timing will occur during rush hour.

Snow will move in this morning and will impact the area until 1 p.m, with the heaviest snow between 7 and 10 a.m. along I-95.

A coating to an inch is possible in the Baltimore metro area; there may be locally heavier amounts. Unusually, the snow totals are expected to be heavier the farther south you go; areas north of the city are expected to stay dry.

Some sleet may mix in during the afternoon when the system moves out.

Sunshine is expected for the rest of the work week, and we are still on track to reach the low 50s by Sunday.
