WEATHER BLOG: Normal Friday, Cold Friday Night

What a difference the sun can make. Today, with a decent amount of sun and just a thin cloud layer, we edged up to a daytime high of 40 degrees.

With a predominant flow from the west, the day felt comfortable overall. Tonight, we expect clear to partly cloudy skies and we'll expect that trend to continue into the early weekend.

We could see a brief spike in temps Friday, ahead of a cold front that passes through dry. Temps reach a seasonable high near 42 degrees, but drop drastically into the overnight hours and Saturday.

Friday night, temps hit mid teens, followed by a high Saturday of just about freezing (despite bright sunshine).

The next system we're monitoring is Sunday. Timing is still tricky, but it appears to be primarily an afternoon and night-time rain event for most. We'll preface that by saying the storm set-up and location will determine if snow impacts the western edge of the state.

Behind the storm looks  blustery and chilly for the long holiday weekend. Stay tuned.
