WEATHER BLOG: Chilly And Sunny

Friday was a nice day in the area, with the high temperature reaching 43 at BWI before falling into the 30s as a cold front moved through. Today will be chilly and sunny, in the mid 30s around the region as high pressure slowly moves to the east.

By Saturday night, another system will pass north of the region dragging a cold front west of the region by Sunday. As the front pushes east, a wave of low pressure will form along the temperature gradient and spread moisture along the eastern seaboard. As of now, it appears temperatures will be warm enough for all rain throughout the event around the region. Temperatures will spike into the 40s as low pressure tracks over eastern N.J. into New England.

The heaviest rain looks to fall between about 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. Sunday afternoon with anywhere from 0.50-1.00 inches of rainfall possible. By Sunday afternoon, rain will taper showers.

Monday will be cooler in the wake of this system, with temperatures in the 40s as high pressure briefly takes control through Tuesday.

By Tuesday night into Wednesday, a weak Alberta Clipper will approach from the west. The general consensus of model guidance is to bring the region enhanced cloud cover and perhaps a rain or snow shower.

Cold conditions look to follow for the remainder of the week.
