Roch Kubatko Checks In With Rumors From The Warehouse

Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to update Scott and Jeremy to talk about the rumors coming out of the Warehouse, and the Washington Nationals acquiring a big time pitcher. The Orioles and the Nationals have been at odds over the MASN television deal, however the Nats just spent 210 million dollars on ace Max Scherzer. Roch gives his thoughts on Washington making a big splash.  "It's a shame the Nats don't have more of that MASN money so they can actually go out and get someone better. I don't really understand it, they didn'tneed another starter. If I'm them, and I am more detached from it because obviously I don't cover the team, but I would've tried to extend Jordan Zimmerman... Now I'm just gonna be curious whether they end up dealing another starter."

With the addition of Scherzer the Nats appear to be a favorite for the World Series. Roch talks about the crowded rotation in DC. "It's crazy. They showed willingness to go ahead and open the wallet wide and spend. Their owners got more money in his sofa cushions than we all make combined. He's got plenty to spend and every year on paper they look like the team to beat, best rotation and a great lineup, World Series favorite and they have yet to make it to the World Series so we'll see if this puts them over the hump."

The Orioles were heavily rumored to be involved with free agent Outfielder Colby Rasmus this offseason, so much so that skipper Buck Showalter visited Rasmus at his home. Roch gives an update to what is going on with Colby Rasmus. "They thought they had a deal done with Rasmus for a year around 7 million at 6.5-7 and all of the sudden his agent decided wait maybe I can get more money.  So the Orioles are now put on hold and I know they're frustrated and eventually they could lose patience and just say forget it then. So I don't think they're going to go ahead and up their offer to Colby Rasmus."

Roch published a blog over the weekend that discussed the Orioles interest in Colorado Rockies Outfielder Charlie Blackmon. Roch talks about why Blackmon interests the O's "They are exploring trades and Blackmon is somebody that I was told that they're starting to do their homework  on him and they'll take a look and he is a possibility in trade talks."
