Latest Rumors Surrounding Dan Duquette

Dan Szymborski of ESPN joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to weigh in on the latest reports surrounding Orioles Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations Dan Duquette.  Its been heavily rumored since early December that the Orioles GM could be making his way north, Dan believes it could happen very soon. "This story of course has been percolating for about a month and a half now but it looks like it's finally going tom come to fruition because the Orioles needed significant compensation to let Dan Duquette go at this point in the off-season, and it looks like they're going to get it."

Many rumors have been circulating about what the O's could receive  for sending Duquette to Toronto. Right Handed pitcher Jeff Hoffman's name has come up through various sources, Dan gives his thoughts on the 2014 first round pick. "He is absolutely one of the Blue Jays top 10 prospects. He had Tommy John surgery the end of May I believe so he's not going to be super far out, it's not like the 2015 season is going to be a lost cause for him. Tommy John surgeries have a very high success rate especially if its the first one. The second one, that can be a little iffy. But any time you can get a really good prospect for an executive it's really nice compensation."

An article had been posted on ESPN.com listing names of potential replacements for Dan Duquette. Szymborski does not want to see one former GM end up in Baltimore. "I'm not a fan of Kevin Towers at all. I don't like how the Arizona Diamondbacks acted last year. Real cocky, real brash, and really encouraging throwing at other players. It was an ugly situation in Arizona and that's the kind of thing I don't like to see in a team."
