Police: 3 Juveniles Used BB Gun To Shoot At Vehicles On I-95

ELKTON, Md. (WJZ)—Three juveniles have been charged after police say they used a BB rifle to shoot cars traveling on I-95 in Cecil County.

Police say the first incident occurred back on January 16, 2015, when a caller reported that their car window had been shot.

According to police, a fence that runs along the interstate had been cut, which permitted access to the southbound lanes of I-95. Police believe the three suspects set up in this area, and may have shot at approximately 50 vehicles using a BB rifle that one of the juveniles owned.

During the latest shooting incident on Sunday night, police say they investigated and were led to a nearby home. Further investigation revealed that this was the residence of one of the suspects and resulted in the seizure of the BB rifle and the three suspects involved.

The three suspects were charged with reckless endangerment, malicious destruction of property, throwing/shooting an object at a vehicle, and trespassing.

All juveniles ages 14, 15, and 16, were released to the custody of their parents pending a juvenile court hearing.

According to authorities, at this time a total of 18 passenger side windows have been damaged. These vehicles include cars, buses, and tractor trailers. Police estimated damages of at least $15,000.

Anyone who sustained passenger window damage during January in the area of southbound I-95 and Deaver Road near Elkton, is urged to contact the Maryland State Police at 410-537-1150.
