WEATHER BLOG: Cold Saturday, Winds Subside

Happy Saturday to you! I hope you have been staying warm as today was chilly… even for January standards. Highs today only made it to 31° at BWI. That's 11° below average for this time of year. Winds will be subsiding, so that will help calm the wind chill down as we head into tonight and tomorrow. Our next storm will move in on Superbowl Sunday… but it looks like it will be impacting folks to our north more that it will be impacting us here in B'more. A mixed bag of wintry precip (rain, snow, sleet) will develop during the early afternoon and transition to all rain heading into the overnight. By Groundhog Day Monday, our thinking is that we will mix with snow as temps get cold enough. This is all contingent upon the track of this area of low pressure moving north of Baltimore as that will keep us in the "warm-sector" of the storm. Of course, the forecast can still change so be sure to watch it closely over the next 24 to 48 hours.
