WEATHER BLOG: Winter Weather Advisory

Much of this Superbowl Sunday has been a quiet one. Driving in to work this afternoon, I did spot flurries on TV Hill, but other than that, we haven't had much action. Winter Weather Advisories have been posted and are set to go into effect tonight through Monday AM for northern Maryland with the threat of snow, sleet & freezing rain. This means that untreated roads may become icy, resulting in harzardous traveling conditions. If you are driving north of Baltimore to watch the game tonight, make sure that, in addition to watching the game, you are also watching the weather because your drive home could be slick. Snow will mix to sleet, freezing rain, & rain tonight before becoming all rain early Monday AM for areas in the advisory zone. Below are a few snapshots of what the radar could look like at 11PM tonight, Midnight Monday and 1AM Monday. Blue=Snow, Pink=Ice/Freezing Rain & Green=Rain. Notice how the HRRR model has almost everyone changing over to rain shortly after midnight on Monday.
