Terps National Signing Day Update

It's National Signing Day for football programs across the nation and Keith Cavanaugh from the Terrapin Times joined the show to discuss Maryland's top signings.

Listen in to get in the inside scoop from Keith on who the Terps have signed and which ones got away!

Keith tells Vinny and Rob that the Terps are currently ranked 43rd in the country and 7th in the Big Ten in their recruiting, up from 58th and 12th. The Terps have signed 18 players and Keith calls the 2015 class "solid but unspectacular."

The biggest signing is Quarvez Boulware, a four-star, 6 foot 2 inch, 283 pound offensive center/guard out of D.C.'s Friendship Collegiate.

The biggest loss for the Terps is Isaiah Prince, a four-star offensive tackle from Eleanor Roosevelt in Greenbelt, MD. He previously verbally committed to Alabama two weeks ago but pulled back on that and visited Maryland and Ohio State. "Obviously, Prince is a tough pill to swallow," Cavanaugh said "but hey, there's no crime in losing somebody to Ohio State, the National Champion this year and obviously one of the top two or three power programs in the country."

Another tough loss was Ole Miss beating out Maryland for Austrian Robinson out of New York.

The strength of the 2015 class is the offensive line. The Terrapins got five signings, including two four-stars in Boulware and E.J. Donahue from Linganore in Frederick, MD. They also signed three three-stars in Ellis McKennie out of McDonogh H.S. in Owings Mills, MD, Will McClain from Middletown, MD and Mason Zimmerman from Anthony Wayne, Ohio.

Maryland is in need of a quarterback next year but their only QB signing was Gage Schaffer from West Virginia who Cavanaugh compares to a a former Maryland QB who led the Terps to a Champs Sports Bowl: "Gabe Schaffer, who I view as a solid, developmental-type guy who's a three-star out of West Virginia, kinda came out of nowhere and impressed at Maryland's camp big arm, 6'6". He's a developmental guy and is going to take a couple years. I kind of liken him to a young Sam Hollenbeck."
