WEATHER BLOG: Freezing Rain Affects Commute

Hi Everyone!

What a seize up overnight. And it was a 2 for 1. In the middle of the night what had fallen was a billion little ice pellets that formed a crust. A textured crust that was walk able and drivable. Then as ground temps dropped, where pavement was wet, a glaze over occurred. We discussed a possible freezing rain scenario yesterday but we just got clubbed overnight.

As the sun rises so do ground temps, and conditions will loosen quickly.  And for the next couple of days we will be in the low 40's. Then comes some legit cold with single digits, at night, by the end of the weekend.

Hey it's Winter. It is what it is. But here is something to brighten your day; the normal daytime high has now risen to 44 degrees. A week and a half ago it was 42. We are coming out of Meteorological Winter..and a change of seasons is beginning. Slowly but surely we are putting the bulk of Winter behind us. Small consolation when Sunday night we will drop to 6 degrees, but still….

Speaking of 6 degrees I have always wondered if real cold temps kills off cold and flu bugs? Or is that just a wives tale?
