Maryland Mother, 2 Children Injured In House Fire

WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- A western Maryland mother is in critical condition after a house fire injured her and her two children.

The Maryland Fire Marshal's Office says the 27-year-old mother had second- and third-degree burns to 30 percent of her body and was suffering from smoke inhalation. She was taken to a Baltimore hospital in critical condition. Her 18-month-old baby and 8-year-old child had minor injuries from smoke inhalation.

The marshal's office says the fire happened shortly before midnight Thursday at the family's home in Westminster.

Investigators are working to determine what caused the fire. They say there were no working smoke alarms found in the home.
