Restaurant Week Begins In Baltimore City

BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ)—It's one of the most delicious times of the year for diners in Baltimore.

Restaurant Week is underway and as Ron Matz reports foodies will have a lot more than just great food.

From Little Italy, to Harbor East, to Canton--Baltimore Restaurant Week is here.

Sabatino's has it all, the menu includes the famous bookmaker salad.

"As always we feature our signature salad, "The Bookmaker," it's a traditional garden salad with shrimp, salami, provolone cheese, olives and onions. It's a feast and its very popular," said Lisa Morekas, Sabatino's.

Da Mimmo will serve up their specialties--deals at lunch and dinner.

"Restaurant Week is important to Da Mimmo. When you have an offer on the table to come in and have a three course meal for $30 dollars or a two course meal for $15 dollars, it's a great opportunity and we just want to make that accessible to the people of Baltimore," said Mimmo Cricchio.

It's part of Absolutely Fabulous, two bargain weeks at restaurants, hotels and more.

"We're hoping it generates more activity. Feet on the street, people in the hotels and the attractions and give families something to do while its cold. It continues through February 28th," said Lauren Hamilton, Downtown Partnership.

This year's food celebration is bigger and better than ever with more than 100 Baltimore restaurants taking part.

"It's my favorite time of year, typically February, other than Valentine's Day weekend, is a very slow time of the year for us. So this is good for business," Morekas said.

"Restaurants in the city of Baltimore really luck out with "Absolutely Febulous". Visit Baltimore has done a tremendous job of encouraging people to come eat, play and stay. Come to the restaurants, see the attractions, see what the city has to offer, and stay in one of the hotels," Cricchio said.

Baltimore Restaurant Week continues through February 28th.
