Walk-In Clinic Opens In Annapolis Grocery Store

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) --Annapolis residents will now have another place to get medical attention.

A new Anne Arundel Medical Center FastCare walk-in clinic will be opening inside the Shoppers at 2371 Solomon's Island Road on Feb. 23.

This is the second AAMC location to open in Maryland. In June 2014, the Giant in Bowie opened a FastCare clinic. In the coming months, AAMC will open more of their clinics throughout grocery stores in the area. Currently, the FastCare brand of clinics is located in eight other states.

"The benefits to patients of a retail clinic are many, including expanded hours, walk-in availability and lower cost," President and CEO of Anne Arundel Medical Center Tori Bayless, said. "The key difference between FastCare and other retail clinics is the close association with a major health system. With FastCare, patients benefit from connectivity, including access to MyChart, AAMC's electronic medical record."

The nurse practitioners who work for AAMC will send the patient's visit records to their primary care physician. The service will cost patients $79, which will be billed to the patient's health insurance, the visit can include lab tests.

"We are pleased to be able to offer this convenient health resource to our customers and our local community," Matthew Shimoda, pharmacy district manager at Shoppers, said. "This FastCare clinic enables our customers to take care of their families by providing them with convenient access to quick, affordable health assistance, in-store, along with prescriptions and groceries."

You can visit the FastCare Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sunday 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The clinic can treat patients with symptoms ranging from allergies to upper respiratory infections.
