Maryland Basketball Cracks AP Top 10 For First Time Since 2003

For the first time in twelve years, the Maryland Terrapins are in the Top 10 of the Associated Press Top 25 poll. Before defeating No. 5 ranked Wisconsin on Tuesday and Michigan on Saturday the Terps were ranked no. 14 in the nation. This is the first time since 2003, when they were ranked No. 8, that the Terps have been in the Top 10.

Maryland is the team to beat right now as they increased their win streak to five straight games. They are 24-5 overall and 12-4 in the Big Ten on the season.

The Terps are joined by fellow Big Ten teams Ohio State (No. 23) and Wisconsin (No. 6).

Freshman guard Melo Trimble was also named co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week, sharing the honors with Ohio State's D'Angelo Russell. Trimble averaged 17.5 points a game with a 47.8% efficiency in the two games last week. This is the third Big Ten weekly honor that has been awarded to Trimble this season.

The Terrapins will travel to Louis Brown Athletic Center in Piscataway, New Jersey to take on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Tuesday March 3 at 7 PM.
