4 Children, 2 Adults Jump From Home After It Catches Fire

EDGEWOOD, Md. (WJZ) -- Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire in Harford County early Friday morning.

The fire broke out just before 3 a.m. at a home in the 1800 block on Eloise Lane in Edgewood, according to fire officials and four children and one adult were trapped inside

When firefighters arrived around 2:56 a.m., smoke was showing from a townhome in the middle of a row of homes.

Firefighters found 34-year-old Anna Stanfield in the front yard and she told them she had jumped from the third floor of the home. Her four children, ranging in ages 4 to 12,  jumped from the third floor as well.

All of the victims have been taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.  Stanfield was treated of mild smoke inhalation injuries and injuries sustained received from jumping the window.

One firefighters was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Seventy firefighters from around the region responded to the scene of the blaze.

Investigators learned the fire originated in the basement laundry room. The cause remains under investigation.

Damages are estimated at $150,000 and no working smoke alarms were inside the home -- it was constructed in 1976 before the installation of sprinkler systems.
