Suspected Serial Shooter Linked To 2 More Incidents

COLUMBIA, Md. (WJZ) -- The man accused of being behind a serial shooting spree has been linked to several more incidents across Maryland.

Christie Ileto has the new details released by police Wednesday.

Tuesday night, we learned Hong Young may be connected to two more incidents at Laurel restaurants. Now Anne Arundel County police are saying he could also be behind the Maryland Live! casino shooting and also at a public library, which means that he shot at five different locations the day before he was arrested.

Police say new evidence links 35-year-old Hong Young to bullet holes discovered at the Russett Library in Laurel.

"A bullet went through a window there. It was lodged into the ceiling tile. Again, no one was injured in that scenario. We also believe that Young is responsible for the bullet holes that were found in the facade at the Maryland Live casino," said TJ Smith, Anne Arundel County police.

Police are still waiting on ballistics to the casino shooting.

"Right now, that's linked through with our belief is in the method of operation," Smith said.

This means Young could be linked to nine incidents in Prince George's, Anne Arundel and Howard Counties.

The former corrections officer's alleged shooting spree started on February 24, when police say he fired at a driver at an Arundel Mills gas station. He confessed to police voices told him to shoot at the 61-year-old victim.

The 35-year-old is also linked to shootings at a Wal-Mart, a movie theater in Columbia, on the ICC, at the NSA and two restaurants in Laurel.

Police say Young's car was spotted near a lot of the shootings and the FBI discovered rounds of ammunition and 10 weapons at his Beltsville home---one a ballistics match to the shootings. The motive, though, is still a mystery.

Fortunately, no one was killed in any of these incidents. Among other charges, Young faces attempted first degree murder.

Young is being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center without bail.
