Delaney Visiting Truck Plant To Promote Western Md. Growth

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- U.S. Rep. John Delaney is visiting a Volvo truck manufacturing plant in Hagerstown to promote his ideas for job growth in western Maryland.

The Democratic congressman is visiting the plant Friday. He says he wants to draw attention to a bill in the state legislature to create "manufacturing development zones" and tax credits to encourage investment in new manufacturing plants.

Delaney's "western Maryland agenda" also includes fully funding local transportation needs, increased tourism promotion, helping farmers and improving rural broadband access.

A Delaney spokesman says the second-term congressman is seriously considering running next year for the U.S. Senate seat to be vacated by the retirement of Democrat Barbara Mikulski.
