Morgan State Stabbing Suspect Released On Bail, Claims Self-Defense

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The man accused of stabbing two Morgan State football players and injuring another was released on bail Thursday after an appearance in court.

At a bail review hearing, Carlos Mars' bail was set for $500,000.

The judge ordered the 19-year-old to stay away from the victims and from the Morgan State University campus.

WJZ media partner The Baltimore Sun reports Mars claimed self-defense in court.

His attorney told the judge that Marc was a part of the ruckus and that  "This was a situation where he was trying to protect himself and his friends," the Sun reported.

Mars was released on bail.
