Terps Still Dancing In March Madness

SPOKANE, Wash. (WJZ) -- Heading to the Final Four. The Terps are still dancing in March Madness. The Maryland women defeated Tennessee. Now mighty U-Conn is next.

Sports director Mark Viviano has a look at this well prepared Terps team.

It looked like Maryland might fall short of the Final Four. It could have been their final game. They trailed Tennessee by five points midway through the second half.

The Volunteers--sensing an upset victory. Then the Terps re-grouped and turned the tables.

"I told my teammates to look up at the clock. It was under ten. And when you're that close to a Final Four, you've got to lock in. And we answered that calling," said Terps guard Lexie Brown.

Sophomore Lexie Brown hit three three-pointers in the second-half surge. She had struggled in her previous game, but put that behind her with her team counting on her to come through.

"They needed me to score in the second half, so I just took that upon myself, put the team on my back. Tierney did it for us, Bri's done it for us, Mincy's done it for us. When your number's called, you've got to be ready," Brown said.

"It's still pretty surreal, just the fact that we're going back-to-back Final Fours. Couldn't be more proud of this team," said Terps head coach Brenda Frese.

The Terps cut down the nets as champions of the West Regional in Spokane, Washington and advance to another chance to win a national title, like they did in 2006.

In the Final Four this time, they'll go face-to-face with powerhouse Connecticut--two-time defending national champs.

This is the sixth time the Maryland women have made it to the Final Four.
