Authorities Positively ID Man Found Dead In 2008

FREDERICK, Md. (WJZ)— The remains of a man found dead in 2008 have been positively identified, authorities announced on Tuesday.

On December 13, 2008, a man was found in a wooded area near the intersection of Boyers Mill Road and Gas House Pike in Frederick County. Police say a portion of the human remains were sent out to determine the identity of the man.

Years later and a positive DNA match; authorities were able to identify the man as Edwin Philip Hobbs. Police say at the time his remains were discovered he would have been 47-years-old.

Hobbs was last seen alive on February 8, 2008 when he was released from the Maryland Division of Corrections, authorities said.
