Trimble to Return to Maryland for Sophomore Season
Head Basketball Coach Mark Turgeon announced that Freshman guard Melo Trimble will return to the University of Maryland for his sophomore year.
Turgeon's Terps, with Trimble leading the way, made their first NCAA Tournament since 2010 and set a school-record with 26 regular season wins. With a team-leading 16.2 points per game, ranking in the top five in scoring in the conference, he was also selected to the first team All-Big Ten and named a USBWA Freshman All-American.
"We did our due diligence and also had a number of great discussions with Melo and his mom regarding what would be best for his future," Turgeon said. "He is excited about playing with a great team and is looking forward to his sophomore year at Maryland."
"I am excited about spending another year with my teammates and building on what we accomplished this year," Trimble said. "I want to thank Coach Turgeon for helping my mom and I through this process. This was the best decision for me. Being a member of the Maryland basketball program has been an unbelievable experience and I can't wait to be back in front of the best fans in college basketball next season."
One possible reason for his excitement is the commitment of consensus top 10 recruit Diamond Stone. Add in Jaylen Brantley and the eligibility of senior transfer Robert Carter Jr. to the mix and who, with the exception of the rest of the Big Ten, wouldn't excited for the 2015-16 Terrapins' season.
