Police Search For Persons Of Interest In West Baltimore Shooting

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Searching for gunmen. Five people shot are shot in West Baltimore. The suspects are still on the loose.

As police release pictures of two people they want to question, neighbors say their community is turning into a war zone, with gunshot fired nearly every day.

Meghan McCorkell has the latest on the investigation.

Investigators hope those surveillance images help crack the case, as neighbors in West Baltimore fear even more violence.

Take a look at the surveillance photos. Police are calling the two men pictured persons of interest in a West Baltimore shooting that left five people injured.

"I heard about ten shots. I was in my bedroom in my apartment," said Michelle Acree.

By the time Acree ran out of her home, she found her daughter and goddaughter laying on the ground. Both of them were shot, along with three others, including a 15-year-old girl.

"They was just innocent bystanders. That's what we don't understand," she said.

Within minutes, police were trying to hunt down the gunman's car--a stolen blue-ish silver Honda Pilot.

Investigators say the stolen vehicle fled from police twice earlier in the day.

"What we know is that there were people inside of this vehicle who are brazen shooters. They were willing to do whatever it took to get to this corner and fire those shots," said Capt. Eric Kowalczek, Baltimore City Police Department.

Police continue to patrol the area and put out fliers asking for information. Neighbors tell WJZ they've been hearing gunshots for weeks.

Thursday's shooting was right around the corner from the last murder that happened just last week.

No one has been arrested for killing 22-year-old Sterling Day. The shooting scene in hte 1900 block of West Lanvale is less than a mile from four different murders that have taken place over the past three months.

Now the community wants the gunmen behind bars.

"I want them to get caught because my child could have died over here and my goddaughter and other people," said Acree.

Investigators believe the two men caught on surveillance may be the key to closing the case.

Anyone with information about those men is asked to call city police. All the victims in Thursday's shooting are expected to survive.

Police continue to look for that stolen blue-ish silver Honda Pilot with Maryland tags 5BE1423. Anyone who sees that vehicle is asked to call 911.
