Holy Giveaway! Replica Batmobile Up For Grabs At Maryland Live Casino

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- It's one of the most recognizable cars in the world, and it was the real star of a popular '60s television show.

Ron Matz reports that a replica Batmobile is now up for grabs in Anne Arundel County.

The Batmobile has arrived in Anne Arundel County. It took John Risner nine years to build the 1966 replica, looking just like the one in the hit TV show.

"When I was 10-years-old, the television series came out. Batman and Robin were cool, but the Batmobile... Let's face it, as a young man growing up in America seeing a car that shoots fire out the back, who wouldn't fall in love?" said Risner.

Yes, this one shoots fire, too.

"We're running at 500 horsepower. We have the gadgets and the paint scheme that were on the car in season one," said Risner.

Seven feet wide, 19 feet long--from the bat dials to the bat computers, the license plate, and yes, the Batphone.

"It wouldn't be the Batmobile without the Batphone so we can talk to the commissioner. We're completely set with the gadgets that were on the car in season one," Risner said.

A replica Batmobile will be given away at the Maryland Live! Casino on April 26.

"The way you win the car is you come in, play throughout the month on your free 'Live Rewards' card and it's really that simple. All you have to do is come in and play and you have a chance to win the Batmobile," said Mario Maesano, Maryland Live! Casino senior vice president for marketing.

Stirring memories of another day.

"Everybody knows it's the Batmobile. It's ageless in its appeal," Risner said.

"I freaked out when I saw the car. I immediately went back to my childhood. I went back to 'Boom! Bam! Pow!' All of htat from the original show. I loved it," said Ed Evans, director of culinary operations, Maryland Live! Casino.

The 1966 replica Batmobile will be on display at Maryland Live until the giveaway.

"The giveaway is April 26 at 4 p.m. You have to be present to win. The car will be on the floor all month so people can come check it out," said Maesano.

The car is officially licensed with both Warner Brothers and D.C. Comics.
