Md. Man Sentenced To 150 Years In Beer Pong Sex Assault Case

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- A Montgomery County man convicted of sexually assaulting men he met at beer pong events was sentenced to 150 years behind bars on Wednesday.

Investigators say Joey Poindexter targeted dozens of young men at beer pong tournaments and sexually assaulted them.

Meghan McCorkell has more on the sentencing.

Prosecutors call 40-year-old Joey Poindextera a sexual predator unlike we've ever seen in Montgomery County.

"He hunted human beings. He knew what he was about. He did it in serial fashion for years," said John McCarthy, Montgomery County, State's Attorney.

Investigators say Poindextera preyed on young men at beer pong tournaments--he got them drunk, or drugged them, then sexually assaulted them.

Surveillance video shows Poindextera leading one of his victims out of a College Park pub.

The case was first brought to light when one of the victims came to police. He wore a wire and confronted Poindextera. "If it makes you feel any better I don't have any (expletive) aids," said Poindextera.

Investigators say Poindextera photographed and videotaped at least 30 of his victims. Police say they found thousands of images on his hard drive.  Investigators have only been able to identify five of the victims.

Poindextera's  lawyer says he will appeal the ruling.

"There has to be an appeal. And because the state cheated now those victims are going to have to testify again."

Investigators say they never even knew they were assaulted until they saw the pictures.

Poindextera did not speak in court on the advice of his lawyer.
