New Ranking Means Huge Savings For O's Fans

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--A low ranking for the Orioles means huge savings for baseball fans at Camden Yards.

A recent list ranked the most expensive places to see a Major League Baseball game and Camden Yards was ranked 27 out of 30.

Marcus Washington has more on how this is good for fans and the Orioles organization.

Millions of baseball fans head to ballparks across the country and at Camden Yards it's no exception.

"You know Orioles baseball traditionally has been for generations of fans; you bring your kids, your grand kids to the game and that's what's so special about baseball in general," said Greg Bader, of the Orioles.

In a recent ranking of the most expensive ballparks in the country, Camden Yards ranked 27 out of 30. The Team Marketing Report's 2015 Fan Cost Index came up with the figure of $163.39 for the average amount spent at a  Major League Baseball game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

A far cry from what Michael O'Grady from New Jersey pays for Yankees tickets in New York.

"I used to take my family. I have two kids who are now young adults, but for a family of four back then, it was sometime $400 or $500, sometimes $600," said O'Grady.

For a family of four the ranking is based off these factors: four adult average-price tickets, two small draft beers, four small soft drinks, four regular size hot dogs, parking for one vehicle, two game programs and two of the least expensive adult adjustable caps.

Compared to the Yankees, or less than 50 miles south, the Nationals, you're going to pay a lot more, so you will do better staying right here at home.

"I'm shocked only because I know the Orioles team is good again and a lot of times with that prices start creeping up a bit," O'Grady said.

"Do not raise prices on fans. Let's keep the momentum into the 2015 season. So, we have been able to keep the tickets the same price as last year," said Bader.

Not just the fourth most affordable in baseball, but the fourth most affordable in all professional sports.

The Yankees are not the most expensive, but they are second to the Boston Red Sox.

The least expensive ball park on the list is the Arizona Diamondbacks.
