Baltimore DPW Reports Sewage Overflow Into Jones Falls

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The city's Department of Public Works is reporting a sanitary sewer overflowed into Jones Falls Monday morning.

According to the DPW, the overflow lasted around three hours before stopping around 1 p.m.

The overflow exceeded 10,000 gallons and entered Jones Falls in the 1500 block of N. Charles Street.

DPW said the cause was a stormwater infiltration into the sewer main.

Warning signs were posted along the stream.

The Maryland Department of the Environment and the Baltimore City Health Department have been notified.
