Nearly 100 Rally For Police In Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ)—Family and friends rally for police in Annapolis Sunday, one day after violent protests broke out in Baltimore that left six officers injured.

According to our media partner The Baltimore Sun, United for Blue marched on Lawyers Mall in Annapolis to show their support for those who serve and protect.

The founders Kelly Wince and Bobbie Padgett told the Sun that they planned the rally months ago because they were tired of hearing disparaging talk about police.

The rally was initially unrelated to this week's events in Baltimore, but Saturday's violence struck a cord with the group.

"The officers getting spit on and having lit trash cans thrown at them are the same ones who, if that same person had a heart attack and collapsed, would risk their lives to save them," Wince said.

100 participants showed up to Sunday's event.
