Mondawmin Mall Reopens Sunday After It Was Looted

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Mondawmin Mall reopened Sunday at noon almost a week after riots and looting caused damage to the mall.

The mall will be open Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. and then from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

"The Mall Management Team is thankful for the support of their staff, retailers, security team and representatives from the City of Baltimore and Baltimore City Police Department," Romaine Smallwood-Smoot, the general manager stated. "We look forward to welcoming shoppers back to Mondawmin Mall and we are proud to remain a community partner."

In a press conference outside the mall, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said she's optimistic after seeing how quickly the mall bounced back after it was looted.

Rawlings-Blake thanked the vendors for staying at the mall and reminisced about going there to get pictures with Santa.

"We want to heal our city," she said. "We will get better."
