Md. Comptroller Extends Sales Tax Deadline For Businesses

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Businesses in Baltimore affected by riots are getting a two-week extension to file April sales taxes returns and payments.

Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot announced Tuesday that the May 20 deadline has been extended to June 3. Penalties and interest will be waived if returns are filed during the extension period.

Franchot says businesses in Baltimore need help rebuilding after riots caused damage in the city after Freddie Gray died after being injured in police custody.
