Eye On The Enemy: New York Yankees

Sweeny Murti of WFAN in New York joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to give an update from the Yankees clubhouse. The Yankees currently sit in first place in the American League East to the surprise of most, Sweeny talked about what has contributed to the Yanks success. "A lot of things have gone right for them so far, they haven't really been effected by one thing that could take down an older team and that's injuries. Tanaka is on the DL but they're only in their second turn through the rotation, he pitched a couple of really good games before he went on the DL so they got a couple of good wins out of him."

The back end of New York's bullpen is looking a lot like the 2014 Orioles bullpen with dominant outings from Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller. Sweeny talked about the success the pen has seen and how it is almost a surprise to Yankees fans. "When the season started I said that the Yankees bullpen might be their biggest strength but also their biggest question mark because you have a 7 man bullpen and of those 7 only one had played an entire season with the Yankees. That was Dellin Betances who had an all-star season last year but he was potentially moving into a role that he had never done before in closer, it didn't work out that way."
