Eye On The Enemy: Toronto Blue Jays

Buck Martinez, the play by play voice of the Toronto Blue Jays, joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to check in live from Camden Yards with an update from the Blue Jays clubhouse. Ubaldo had a dominant outing Monday night against the Jays going 7 innings with 9 strike outs in the Orioles 5-2 win. Buck gave his thoughts on Jimenez's outing. "I think what he's done now is he's learned that he can pitch at 91-93 and not at 97 like he did in the prime of his career. For a power pitcher it's a transistion and it took him most of last year to pitch his way to where he is now. The addition of Ramon Martinez to help him with his mechanics a little bit and maybe throw a little confidence I think it's all come together. But right now in the 3 games we have seen him this is as good as I've ever seen him pitch in his career."

The Blue Jays have seen a ton of injuries early in the season with Jose Bautista, Michael Saunders and others missing time this year. Buck weighed in on where Toronto is on the injury front. "They're kind of beat up but everyone is beat up right now. Tampa Bay lost two of their starters that they thought they were going to get back in Smyly and Cobb. We have (Dioner) Navarro out, Bautista can DH only he can't throw. So you can't really worry too much about your injuries you just have to consider who you have. Fortunately for the Blue Jays Chris Colabello has come up and he's off to a good start and (Ezequiel) Carrera has done a good job. Everyone is dinged up."
