The Hot Spots You Will Not Want To Miss In Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md. (WJZ) -- Memorial Day weekend is in full swing, kicking off the unofficial start of summer.

Tracey Leong explains the hot spots you will not want to miss in Ocean City.

One of the biggest attractions in Ocean City is the food. So if you do head over to the Boardwalk, you need to make sure you stop by Dolle's. It's one of the original candy shops in Ocean City.

Open for business. For more than 100 years, Dolle's Candyland has been delighting the palates of locals and visitors.

"You smell it on the Boardwalk. So it's always on the back of your mind," said Mary Buchanan.

"You've got to come in and try our taffy. We let people try any sample when they come in, so the big attraction is the smells and sights of making it," said Jay Davenport, Dolle's Candyland.

A tradition some families carry on for several generations.

"Kids get older, they start having kids of their own and take their own kids," said Davenport.

After you satisfy your taste buds, you may want to hit the rides--or if you're looking for a more calming attraction, just step off the Boardwalk, where free events on the sandy shore are being held almost every day.

"We have fireworks on the beach, concerts on the beach, movies on the beach. You name it, we've got it. And a lot of it's happening right on the beach and right off the Boardwalk," said Donna Abbott, Ocean City tourism director.

And whether you're young or old, there are games for everyone tucked inside the Boardwalk arcades.

"The games of course," said nine-year-old Alfie. "I love video games. I watch it. I love Mario Kart. I love everything."

"A chance to have fun with the whole family and work towards something everybody wants. We always have stuff little kids want to win and take home and play with," said Nathan Van Dike, Sportland Arcade.

This summer, all the businesses on the Boardwalk will be extending their hours. Sportland will be staying open until 2 a.m.
