Lightning Strike Destroys Home, Leads To Arrest Of Occupant

WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- An early morning lightning strike caused a fire that destroyed a house and also led to the arrest of one of the occupants for an unrelated charge.

The Carroll County Times reports 57-year-old Norma Jean Lemley was arrested on an outstanding Pennsylvania warrant for failure to appear in court after authorities responded to the house fire Monday.

According to the Office of the State Fire Marshal, lightning struck the roof of the two-story house on Louisville Road, starting a fire in the attic that caused more than $150,000 in damage.

The fire marshal's office says it took 50 firefighters from seven agencies about 90 minutes to control the blaze.

Lemley and another occupant, Marshall Grove, were displaced as a result of the damage.
