Code Red Declared In Baltimore For Tuesday

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A Code Red heat advisory has been issued for Baltimore Tuesday.

According to the Baltimore City Health Department, the heat index is expected to 105 degrees Tuesday

"Hundreds of people die every year from heat-related illness," said Dr. Wen. "Heat is a silent killer and a threat to the health of everyone in our city, particularly the young, the elderly and those with chronic diseases. In weather like this, it's important for everyone to protect against hyperthermia and dehydration."

It's the first Code Red of the season.

Cooling centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. officer cold water and air-conditioning to residents without access to it in the homes.
