WEATHER BLOG: Weekend Forecast

What a beautiful start to the weekend today as high pressure hold over us this weekend. A weak piece of energy will be moving over southeastern Virginia to start out the day, however this will only bring some clouds to start the day.

Temperatures will be running just a couple of degrees above normal, but with dewpoints down into the upper 50s and at most lower 60s both days this weekend will be rather nice.

On Monday, the forecast looks rather interesting and has a few issues involved with it. A weak area of low pressure will be moving north between the east coast and Bermuda, and while the chance for tropical development is very, very low, the precipitation and cloud cover associated with the low will still be in place. The precipitation looks like it should stay off the coast, however cloud cover will certainly increase from Sunday, the day may even finish mostly cloudy. At the same time on Monday, a piece of energy will be crossing Virginia and another the Great Lakes. Showers and thunderstorms will be focused from the western Great Lakes through the Southeast, but a scattered shower or thunderstorm could fire across the mid-Atlantic.

On Tuesday, it looks like the chance for precipitation will change from possible to likely as the Great Lakes trough digs into the region and brings some shower and thunderstorm activity to the I-95 corridor. Wednesday will see a cold front move across the Northeast, and anyone that manages to get missed on Tuesday will likely get wet on Wednesday.

Thursday and Friday will see us pinched between Great Lakes disturbances and another low off the coast, but both days we should manage to stay dry with high pressure trying to wedge between these disturbances.
