Washington County Official Announces Congressional Run
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The president of the Washington County Commissioners is joining the list of Republicans hoping to unseat Democratic U.S. Rep. John Delaney in Maryland's 6th Congressional District.
The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reported Sunday that Terry Baker will seek his party's nomination in the April 26 primary. He's the fourth Republican to announce his candidacy.
Baker, of rural Clear Spring, recently retired as a trades and carpentry teacher in Washington County Public Schools. He's 59.
He was elected in November to this third term on the county board.
Baker says people want jobs and less government. He says the country is heading in the wrong direction.
The other announced Republican candidates are Dr. Scott Cheng of Montgomery Village, security contractor Christopher Mason of Frederick and state Delegate David Vogt of Brunswick.
