Michael Tanier Talks NFL Off-Season Signings
Michael Tanier from Bleacher Report joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to talk about the recent news and signings taking place around the NFL.
To start things off, Mike explained why so many long-term signings of big name players are taking place today. "You cannot negotiate a long-term deal for a relatively long window if you do not sign a deal or have something in place by 4:00 p.m. today. You can still negotiate a one-year deal, you can sign your tender offer, or you can holdout. This is used to put some teeth in the franchise tag."
Dez Byrant's contract (5 years, $70M, $45M guaranteed) was announced while Mike was talking with Scott and Jeremy and Mike discussed how the Cowboys and Bryant landed on that contract. "The sticking point is I know the Cowboys wanted more years, Dez wanted more money. It's a couple years short so he can get to free agency while still young and get another contract."
Before leaving , Mike also gave his opinion of the AFC North. "It's a little bit wide open. I like what the Ravens have done overall. I love their draft class. It's a typical AFC North the way I am seeing it, where I see the three teams [Ravens, Bengals, Steelers] finishing with right around 10 wins."
